Manglin Pillay
Chief Executive Officer


Manglin Pillay took over the reigns as the CEO of SAICE on October 2010. He is a civil engineer by profession, with particular interest in environmental engineering. Manglin is a driven leader with a hands-on approach. His depth in leadership and strategic planning are a valuable asset to SAICE's long-term vision.

Sharon Mugeri
Executive Assistant to the CEO


Sharon Mugeri joined SAICE on 23 January 2006 in the Education & Training Department. Her roles included organising training courses that were run by the Department. In November 2010 she was appointed as the executive assistant to the CEO and her duties included secretarial, administrative and HR supportive functions.

Memory Scheepers
Project Manager: Special Projects


Before joining SAICE in 1997, Memory worked as a teacher and then a credit officer in the retail environment. At SAICE she started as the membership officer and has worked in Human Resources, building operations and general SAICE administration. She now heads up the Special Projects Department in the Institution.

Steven Kaplan
Chief Operating Officer


Steven Kaplan, SAICE's first COO, started on 2 April 2013. Steven, who is an exceptional communicator and leader, brings with him many years of project management and consulting experience within the civil engineering industry. SAICE stands to benefit from his skills regarding internal organisation processes, and his commitment to Civilution.

FINANCE DEPARTMENT


Isabel Herbst
Chief Financial Officer


Isabel Herbst joined SAICE on 1 August 2007 as the Finance Manager and is now Chief Financial Officer. She completed her B. Comm Accounting and Masters in Business Administration Degrees at Northwest University. She brought valuable experience with her from various industries and corporate organisations.


Paula van Niekerk
Executive Assistant to the CFO


Paula started working at SAICE on February 2012 as the executive assistant to the Chief Financial Officer. She does credit control in the finance department and makes the domestic travel and accommodation arrangements.


Joseph Msiza
Financial Accountant


His main function is to collect, process and compile financial records for 18 SAICE Branches including Student Chapters. He performs credit control functions for SAICE Membership in collaboration with the Membership Department. In addition, he also provides the secretarial service to the Finance and Administration Committee.



Magda Bruyns
Bookkeeper: Creditors


Magda started working for SAICE in 1998 as a bookkeeper for creditors in the Finance Department. Over the years she accumulated more knowledge and her duties currently include cashbook, credit accounts payable and drawing bank statements. She also processes debtors and all payments on the system and ensures that all the information corresponds.


Helen Johnstone
Bookkeeper: Courses


Helen Johnstone joined SAICE in March 2007 as a part-time debtors clerk in the finance department. She later took on the responsibility of handling the financial side of all the SAICE courses. On a day-to-day basis Helen is responsible for the invoicing and reconciliation of courses held by SAICE.



Rose Magagula
Bookkeeper: Membership


Rose joined SAICE on 12 January 2009 as a finance-trainee. She became personal assistant to the financial manager and maintains the credit and debit notes, deals with the vendor/supplier forms and opens/loads the new membership schedules.


Marinda Bester
Bookkeeper: Membership S–Z


Marinda joined SAICE in 2012. She handles all bookkeeping matters relating to members with surnames S–Z. She brings with her many years of experience in the bookkeeping and finance industry.

Marie Ashpole
Outreach Officer


Marie Ashpole joined SAICE in 2003. With the Media and Events department under her grasp, media liaison and SAICE events administration are set for greater heights.


Brigitte Nell
Assistant: Media and Events


She started working for SAICE in June 2012 in the Media and Events Department. She attained her B.Comm in Industrial Psychology and Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management. Her responsibilities range from events management to media relation and writing.

Mpumelelo Zingitwa
Team Leader: Advertising and Marketing


Mpumelelo joined SAICE on 1 March 2012. He has worked as an Art Director for various advertising agencies and a Communications Manager before joining SAICE. His responsibilities include managing the SAICE brand, advertising and marketing the Institution.

Willandri Louw
Assistant: Marketing and Advertising


Willandri, who received an Honours degree in marketing in 2012, joined SAICE in February 2013 as a marketing and advertising assistant. At SAICE she is involved in strategic marketing focusing mainly on the 2014 Civilution Congress, providing a link between the Finances Department and the public relations function of the Communications Department.

EDITORIAL


Verelene de Koker
Editor


Verelene joined SAICE in 1998 at the reception desk. Her dedication to SAICE was soon rewarded by a promotion to the Communications Department and the rest was history. She’s now the Editor of Civil Engineering (SAICE’s monthly magazine) and the Journal of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (ISI-accredited biannual technical journal).


Elsabé Maree
Editor’s Assistant


Elsabé Maree joined SAICE on 17 December 2005 as an assistant to the executive office. She has since been appointed as the Editor’s Assistant and her main responsibility is the administration of the SAICE Journal and assisting the editor with day-to-day magazine tasks.


CAREER GUIDANCE


Fridah Mahlangu
Career Guidance Officer


Fridah started working for SAICE in 1999 as a cleaner. After showing potential, she was promoted to switchboard operator and receptionist in 2003. Her experience includes office administration, career exhibiting and events. Fridah also runs SAICE's career guidance projects which advises aspiring civil engineers across high school institutions.

Dawn Hermanus
Course Coordinator


Dawn started at SAICE as receptionist for the seven staff members in 1990. She was later promoted to secretary to the Executive Director and then to the Education and Training Department of SAICE. She's heavily involved with the administration and facilitation of the various informative courses.

Cheryl-Lee Williams
Course Coordinator


Cheryl-lee Williams joined SAICE in February 2011 as an education and training officer. She decided to take on the new venture at SAICE where she is currently involved in organising and coordinating SAICE'S training courses and administering the Continuous Professional Development programme.


BOOK SHOP


Angelene Aylward
Sales Administrator


Angelene Aylward joined SAICE in January 1999 as Sales Administrator for the bookshop. She has seen the bookshop transformed from small beginnings, with only a few titles, to the beautiful facility at SAICE House where she manages a turnover of approximately R2.6-million. Part of her daily duties include customer service, stock control and the website.

Jefry Gobe
Inventory Clerk


Jefry joined the SAICE team at the end of January 2012 as an Inventory Clerk. His responsibilities range from customer service, sales and inventory dispatch at the SAICE bookshop. His daily responsibilities include administration, stocktaking and customer queries.




MEMBERSHIP


Georgie Lewis
Membership Officer (A - L)


Georgie became part of the SAICE fabric in February 2011 as a credit controller. Her functions included credit controlling and data capturing. She escalated to the membership department where her responsibilities currently include customer queries, membership applications and the issuing of membership certificates.

Merriam Molefe
Membership Officer (M – Z)


Merriam started working for SAICE in 2004.After working for three years as a cleaner, she was then promoted to reception in 2007 and worked her way to her current position of membership officer. She handles member applications, fees suspension and senior status administration.

BUILDING OPERATIONS


Merriam Sethole
Receptionist


Merriam joined SAICE in 2008 as a cleaner and was recently promoted to receptionist in 2012. Her duties also include assisting the staff with various duties when requested.


Daniel Motsiri
Assistant and Maintenance


Daniel Motsiri joined SAICE in 2005 as a part-time worker who assisted in renovating SAICE House. He was promoted to driver responsibile for SAICE deliveries and collections, posting, banking and maintenance work. Currently he is involved in the dispatch department assisting the Inventory Clerk.



Salmina Mashasha
Cleaner


Salmina joined SAICE in the beginning of February 2012 as a janitor. Previously she worked in the retail sector as a client-centric saleswoman. Salmina is poised for growth over the long-term period at SAICE, a fertile skill improvement Institution.


Mary Molefe
Cleaner


She joined SAICE in February 2012 as a janitor and is currently being groomed to assist with the SAICE switchboard. Prior to joining SAICE she worked in a publishing company focusing on customer assistance. she hopes to assist in the SAICE bookshop.

Erika Coetzer
Intern: Finance


Erika joined SAICE as an intern in the Finance Department in early February 2012. Part of her responsibilities in her training includes archiving, invoicing members and assisting with their queries.

Celestine Perumal
Intern: Media and Event


Celestine began working at SAICE on 1 February 2012 as an intern in the Media and Events Department. This capable trainee services a number of departments within the Communications Department and also plans and facilitates events.
