Structural Steel Design Code to SANS 10162: 1-2005
Introduction

SANS10162-1:2005 is the latest structural steel design code and it essential that designers are familiar with the changes that have been made from SABS 0162-1:1993.

It is important to note that designs based on codes using the ‘allowable stress” design approach are no longer permitted since the allowable stress design standard has been withdrawn.

This one-day course is aimed at developing an understanding into the basic design theory as well as demonstrating the application thereof with suitable design examples on each section.

Course Background

The course will be presented by Greg Parrott who has over fifteen years teaching experience in Structural Steel Design and has presented similar courses around the country.

In obtaining the 1 CPD credit for this course, and by voluntarily completing some design homework examples you could be given credit for the first module of the SAISC advanced course on the design of industrial buildings and qualify to enter the subsequent three modules.
